The dominant New York Islanders teams of the 1980s started the tradition of not shaving throughout the duration of the team’s postseason run. The practice is now copied by hockey teams at almost every level of the sport and even by athletes in other sports. The tradition isn’t for everyone though. In 2003, Adam Oates refused to join his Stanley Cup runner-up Anaheim Mighty Ducks in growing a playoff beard, noting that the supposed superstition works only for one of the 16 teams that make the postseason each year.

The Incredible Light Art Performance Photography

Light paintings, also known as light drawing or light graffiti, is a photography technique in which exposures are usually made at night or in a darkened room. The images we are featuring here are from Jan Wöllert and Jörg Miedza, the guys behind LAPP-PRO. The light art performance photography (briefly LAPP) is a one-shot, long time bulb exposure photography, performed additionally with movement of light. LAPP originates on a real-time basis directly in front of the camera, created between opening and closing the shutter. Personally, I really liked LAPP-PRO's photos and hope that you will enjoy them too.

Volleyball….Beach or College?

I don’t watch much in the way of women’s sporting events, but if I had to choose two that would be enjoyable to check out it would be beach volleyball and college volleyball. The question is which uniform do you prefer? Sure the beach volleyball ladies sport the bikini, but there is something about those tight spandex on 18 year old college coeds. If you had to pick one to sit in the stands and watch which would it be??
